i had to replace batteries in my cateye astrale8 computer, and lost all the internal settings. i can't find the instruction booklet to figure out the code to enter for wheel circumference for a 700cc wheel - can anyone check theirs and let me know???
thanks in advance.

thanks, but i've actually got the older astrale8 - i guess the numbers wouldn't change...
also, why would tire width change the circumference (the chart in the manual shows a different value for say 700x20c tires and 700x23c tires

because 700x20 tires have less height to them. so therefore they have less circumference.

thx - i always thought the second number referred to width and not height.

AHHHH the 2nd number IS width. What he means is that wider tires have different thicknesses than thinner tires and would affect overall diameter. Think of the outside of the tire as a radius that contributes to the diameter of the tire. The wider the tire, the larger that radius.

it is the width...sorry if i made it sound like i meant height. to clarify, what i meant is that thinner tires usually have less height to them.
