I like Eastern Carolina BBQ better than Memphis BBQ, myself, but yeah, I do like it all.

I haven't had KC in a years. The one KC joint I went to had a burnt end plate that was nothing but hunks of the krispy rind cut offa brisket! Mmmmm, that was GOOD!

St. Simons, Ga bar none.
Slap best brisket and pulled pork I have ever had. Mustard sauce, vinegar sauce, hot, sweet, you pick.

Damn fine smoked sea trout too.

Is this a sister thread to "Must.Get.Dog"?

I have been wanting to check Billy Sims' newest BBQ joint here in town. He has a cheesy slogan: "Where it's not just BBQ, it's Boomer-Q!"

As a southerner, I'm partial to good bbq, especially pulled pork. I'd say NC and Memphis style being my favorites.

Just ate at the County Line here in Austin. Always good.

I once went to Earl Campbell's BBQ (on 6th?). It was horrible. Ever been? Is this place better? (Asking because I'm planning to have BBQ after the MS)

correct. one of the advantages of having attended college in tennessee. i will say there was some nice spillover into kentucky, though.

Incorrect. The BEST BBQ ain't red. It's pork-colored. (http://www.rbellinger.com/blog/2008/07/ncbbqii-part-third-return-to-barbecue.html) All the other types are REALLY good too, but....

I am not that fond of Rudy's and don't know about the Earl Cambell's BBQ. Ruby's (with a "b" on the Drag is a lot better).

Places where you can't go wrong in Austin:

Iron Works -- hard to find parking, but if you can, its decent.
Stubb's on Red River is decent, good live music venue too. Parking is an issue, though.
Ruby's on Guadalupe near UT -- organic meat, definitely worth a run if near campus.
Salt Lick -- 13 miles from far south Austin, open 12-10, worth seeing if you have the time.
County Line (two locations) -- Worth going to. Probably my favorite place since the other Pit barbecue on 2222 shut down several years ago.
Rib Kings (183/Burnet) -- No complaints here.
Poke-E-Joes -- decent. Also no negatives
The Pit on Burnet Road -- always good stuff.
Bill Millers -- a chain of BBQ places from San Antonio.

There are other places, but my brain isn't listing them atm.
