I was freezing in 40 degree Florida weather this morning. I do not know how you guys up north do it. I guess wearing bike shorts, and fingerless gloves was probably not the smartest thing to do...lol.....I did manage to ride through it and log my longest ride to date, a whopping 50 miles on a very flat bike trail (Van Fleet Trail, Florida). I have a long way to go in order to be able to do a century on March 1st, Tour de Cure, Venice, Florida. ;)

Cool, I rode this morning as well, big difference between yesterday and today. Yesterday was 80 degrees here and this morning low 40's. WTF. I am doing the Tour de Cure in Pembroke Pines on Feb. 22. This will be my first century as well.

I'm not exactly up north, but I've been wearing non-cotton long johns and undershirt, jeans and long-sleeve shirt, woolly socks, possibly fleece jacket, and either wool mittens or ski mittens for when it's cold.

Nice Going! I'm going to try 45 miles tomorrow which will be my longest real ride. Wife and I rode 55 miles a month ago, but at a very leisurely pace. The 45 miles, unfortunately, aint flat, but the temps are oh so nice.

Glad to hear you made it. As far as riding in the cold you just get used to it... and if you are like me you begin to prefer it because the trails are empty in winter

Nice work! It is easy to get spoiled by the nice weather. I have a hard time in the cold too.

I made a 130 mile brevet in Jan. Next Sat., hopefully, I'll finish the next in the series, 193 miles--Tripp and Jess might know the area-Melbourne to Christmas to New Smyrna, back to Melbourne.

p.s.- Van Fleet Trail is awesome.

Yeah you right about the temperature. I went for a quick 10-miles this morning at about 8:00 wearing shorts and a sweat jacket with fingerless gloves and my damn fingers bout froze off.

Been on the 'Van Fleet Trail' several times. A real nice trail to ride on if you dont get spooked. :D

Yea, it's suppose to be 29F in Jax Sunday morning, so I will be hitting the pool at the YMCA instead and then hopefully it gets into the 50's in the afternoon, I will take a 20 miler with some full finger gloves and my one and only long sleeve jersey under a short sleeve jersey. Nice job on the 50.

You guys are a couple hours away, if you ever do any rides i'd be interested in joining up. It is always better to have a team of clydes hauling along than all by myself. I'm doing the tour de cure here in pembroke pines This month my first century.

Or if you guys are interested in the MS150 down here we could organize something for that as well. 75 miles down 75 miles back. South Miami to Key Largo.

6 miles. It was tough. I wasnt sure my bike was gonna be able to handle it, but It managed to hold together.

But in all seriousness 6 miles in my personal best. Then shortly after I managed to taco a wheel and I moved to PA and its too damn cold up here to ride so I havent gotten new wheels

40's in shorts & fingerless ? For low 40's I wear middleweight cycling tights over shorts, light wicking undershirt, jersey, fuzzy-lined gloves, balaclava, knit (breathable) jacket, and soccer socks. I would dress a little warmer or cooler depending on sunshine, wind, speed, intensity.

53F is about the lowest I go in "summer clothes" and that is a hard ride in sunshine no breeze.

Sounds like a nice ride. My longest is 52 miles in balmy conditions. The last 15 miles my feet hurt and my hands were taking a beating, but it was a nice ride and I felt victorious at the end. I'm thinking that I need to be more cautious increasing my mileage. 3 months earlier my longest ever ride was 25 miles.
