Vault Guru (hereafter referred to as VG) has always got a new interesting ride. This weekend we took a spin up towards Auburn and went up some good hills. Grades got to 14 or 15% over the route. Total ride distance was 51.58 miles. Average speed of 16.6 mph. Just over 3000 feet total up. Towards the end, VG towed us down Folsom-Auburn at a pretty high pace into a headwind. 25 I think. I took a turn at front, but didn't last too long. It was pretty difficult to pull that high a pace, except going downhill!

Thanks for the ride VG! Had a great time.

Here's the ride profile:

Dan built up a new bike! A Kestrel CF frame/fork set with a mix of Campy components. Very sweet.

Here's the view I had a good chunk of the day. I'm real glad that VG doesn't mind pulling as much as he does!

VG in front and Dan in the back. We stopped so VG could disrobe. Well, remove his vest anyway.

Here's the gratuitous scenic shot:

VG and Dan make it up the steep section and top off Chili Hill.

There's one picture of me. Showing off one of the new medium sized jersey's I bought this month. I can't get over how skinny I've gotten!

Nice ride - hopefully sometime in '09 some of us can come and invade the Sac-town region for a while and check out some of these rides you've introduced us to.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that the next self portrait will show you removing your glasses and shaving off your beard to reveal that you are in fact Levi Liepheimer doing some under cover winter training.

Hey, if any of you want to come up for the Friday the 13th ride, stay over, and do the BF ride ending at the TofC in Sac, I have room :p

Just so all of you know, Joel surprised me on a few hills (aka, smoked me). He is going to be scary fast. Just hope this old dog can keep up as we go into summer training.
I have to give credit to Dan also. He has a replacement hip and did a great job keeping up with us, even on the hills. I am humbled.
