i was thinking about buying some tubes later today.
which ones should i get?
maybe i'll just order them online. the bike shop can be scary sometimes...what with all the mechanics and people working in there...and the yuppies outside.
and now....a song, because i love this song...:
i listen for your footsteps, coming up the drive,
i listen for your footsteps, but they don't arrive.
waiting for your knock dear, on my old front door,
i don't hear it, doesn't mean you don't love me anymore
i hear the clock a'tickin' on the mantle shelf,
i see the hands 'a moving', but i'm by myself,
i wonder where you are tonight, and why i'm by myself.
i don't see you, doesn't mean you don't love me anymore!
don't pass me by, don't make me cry, don't make me bluuuue!!
'cause you know darliiiin' i love only you.
you'll never know it hurt me so, i hate to see you go
don't pass me byyyy.......don't make me cry....
i'm sorry that i doubted you, i was so unfair
you were in a car crash, and you lost your hair,
you said that you would be late, about an hour or two,
that's alright, i'm waiting here, just waiting to hear from you.
don't pass me by, don't make me cry, don't make me blue!
'cause you know darlin' i love only you.
you'll never know it hurt me so, i hate to see you go
don't pass me byyyy.......don't make me cry....

Yeah, what kind of forum is this? Geez! You people think you can all ask questions about whether to use cyclocross or bar end brake levers with your cut down and flipped drop bars and how to wrap your bars or if people think the $55 rear wheel (2nd one down the list) sold at http://www.bikesnyc.com/catalog.php?item_cat=components&item_type=wheels is any good or if you should pony up and get the $80 rear wheel right below that, or even better, the $100 wheelset at the bottom of the list! Geez!!!!!!!!!!

That was just beautiful, I think I'm going to  . I think I love you OneTinSloth...
Stevo, just think of it as spreading to good news. Preaching the gospel of the one true gear. Some people know that they are lost but need help finding the path to one gear salvation. Be patient with them as they stumble.
But seriously, you bring up a good point, beyond the purely problem solving technical questions of how to build a fixed bike we really are getting a lot of 'Do you think that this cinelli clashes with my nitto? Oh my god, if any one sees me riding this bike I would just die!'

All I know is that it's raining outside and I am to much of a whimp now a days to go out and ride in it.

it looks like it's a beautiful day out here today, but it's a little hot, and i have nowhere to be, so i'm using this day to...uh...sing along to beatles' songs. and the cabaret soundtrack.
"LIFE IS A CABARET OLD CHUM, IT'S ONLY A CABARET OLD CHUM!!! AND I LOVE, A CA-BAAAAAA-REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!"
sing it liza, sing it.

Is it OK to wear spandex with Hemorhoids?
Yeah, but with a red chamois lining, so the unsightly staining is less noticeable. :p

You are a nasty man.
Is it OK to wear spandex with Hemorhoids?
I actually recommend it. If you wear loose baggy pants, they tend to hang out. Not a great idea on a fixed gear....
wimp but with a nice hawaa sound. whimp
Inside joke pronunciation from some very old friends that I don't ever talk to. Thats all.

I wish I could keep out of my LBS, I realized looking through my credit card/bank statements that I spend an average of 136 a month. That doesn't include what I pay cash for, or buy from my friend who has about 40 bicycles in his apartment. Usually I go to him whenever I need a new stem/chainring/fenders etc. I actually spend more on bicycles than on food, but not as much as on beer... 5+ a pop adds up FAST.....
Too bad I can't just stop myself for a year or so, and save up to buy that 3rensho track bike I have had my eye on....

I love/hate having my eye on a 3Rensho. There was one in Madison that drove me crazy for a year or two, couldn't justify dropping $1300 on a frame and fork at the time. What size do you ride? I found a 58cm (too small) for 'relatively' cheap $750.

Ah, three of my favorite things. Combining em all together makes it even better.
Taking a nice long 15 mile ride to the next town over for some suicide wings with tatter tots and gravy, then downing a couple brews when I get back.
Could life get any better?

Citibank has this great service where they send you an end of year statement showing how you used you credit card over the past 12 months. OH MY GOD! I SPENT $*,*** ON BIKES(figure with held to protect the stupid)!!! It is good that they can't track the cash transactions too. It is also a good thing that my wife shares a love for bikes.

Thanks for the info, but I ride a couple of sizes bigger... I figure if I can save up around 2k I could get myself a nice one, that however is a while off.....
The one that drove me crazy was the Alan carbon fiber at Flanders, two days later I saw it outside Little Tijuana's fixed. MF! I was a day late and a dollar short. I see flander's still has this Bianchi frame in there, been there two years running, they say they can't find the owner's number, so it sits. There's also the track bike they built, I lust after that bike, it's a beautiful track.

Probably my biggest bicycle mistake was not buying a Chris Kvale for 500...
http://www.velostuf.com/chris_kvale_cycles.htm
I don't know what I was thinking, I should have just sold a kidney, at the time I didn't have enough money.... Still pains me to think about it, especially since the frames are so awesome, just look at his filing of the lugs....
