I recently got a set of WPD-823 pedals to use with my second bike, I tried to clip into them today with my SPD cleats, and could not. I swapped pedals from my other bike, and used those for the ride. Now I need to figure out how to get my cleats to fit the 823s, as they are supposed to. The cleat is the Shimano SM-SH55 mounted on some Diadora MTB Shoes. The pedal that works with this cleat/shoe combo is the Shimano PD-M525.
What do I need to do to get a cleat that works with both pedals?

You need to get rid of the wellgos and buy another pair of Shimano pedals.
Go look, look close, at a pair of wellgo cleats next to a pair of Shimano cleats. They look the same, but look real close, and you will spot some differences. This is because they are different.
I would love my Look cleats to fit my Time pedals, but that just is not going to work as they are made by two competing companies.

Wellgo has made a large variety of cleat and pedal configurations over the years and, while they look similar, they aren't the same. Some Wellgo cleats work, sort of, with Shimano pedals and vise-versa but the fit is poor at best. Some won't work at all.

The stack height on the Shimanos is taller than Wellgo. Wellgo will work on Shimano with a little
bit of slop.

I was wondering whether that was the case or not. The Wellgos seemed to be a bit shallower, and I was wondering if the cleat was not tetting to the jaws of the pedal.
