Bicycle Mechanics - help with removing lockring

i cant get the lockring off of a fixed suzue hub. its not labeled and i hope that im supposed to be turning counterclockwise. i got it to budge a few times but now it seems to be stuck solid. maybe i was tightening it? i hope not. i am not the strongest arm for the job but i want to do it myself damnnit!....... please help??

You're turning the wrong way I'm affraid. Lockrings are threaded backwards, so that if the cog starts to spin off, it hits the lockring, which is going to want to tighten up, thus stopping the cog from coming off (not a good thing).

So to get it off, you need to turn it clockwise. The cog will come off counterclockwise like normal. You'll see the two seperate threads once you get them off.

We've all tried to remove a bolt the wrnog way at least once in our lives, no big deal.

You will also need a sprocket remover. It is a handle with a chain connected to it so the casset does not spin while you remove the lockring. Any LBS should have one or you could make your own. There are other way to hols the cassett but you risk damaging it.

nope, its a fixed gear lockring, laddie. you need one of those overpriced stamped steel lockring removers to get it off.

or, if you're cheap, a flat-bladed screwdriver and a hammer.
