Who's showing? I'll be there from UA with a couple other guys.

What's up with no road race?

I probably will be there in the crit on Sunday. Its a long way from MIA, but I'll be making a pit stop on Sarasota to visit the fam and break up the trip.

I very well might be coming out to play.

Of course having a racing age of 55 would put us in much different sandboxes.:roflmao2:

I have to go to a wedding that weekend. Somehow, the fact that I've raced the last 3 weekends, and will race the next two after this weekend, makes my wife think that she can expect me to go to her neices' wedding.

So, I read that as you just can't send a nice gift and stay happily married. :)

I should be there.

TT Sat and Crit Sun for me.

Can't wait to race in the warmth for a change. (32 degrees at start time last Sat., and 33 degrees on Sun. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!).

Who can tell me what to expect regarding the crit course on Sunday?

Most everyone who has already posted in this thread.. ;)

What do you want to know?

You've got cobblestones in the first two corners, that second one is a little messy. About 50' past the second corner is a manhole cover in the road. Nice long stretch after that before you get to the last two turns, which really are more like one giant turn if you take them at speed, then the stretch to the finish. Finish is slightly uphill on wide open road.

Any 4s doing the crit? Like I said, I'm probably in but it will kind of suck to drive up from Miami to race 35 minutes with 7 people...

Don't forget that there is construction for a new hotel across from Lillian's. Because of that there is a chain link fence that has taken out some of the road. Yuck.

How does racing on that divided road work? I think we go down that road. I honestly don't know the course yet so I could be totally wrong about the existence of the divided road. I know there is one near there.

From the far corner (corner 4) you're on the left side of the road. Then it opens up all the way through the finish line. When the median starts again, the usually put us on the right side. It'll be interesting to see if they route us on the left to avoid the construction though. That'll make the turn a little tighter.

I got a top 10 in the collegiate and about 12th or so in the uscf.

Missed whole weekend due to sickness. Almost went anyway for the squad, but decided a healthy Mike is better next weekend, than someone prolonging the agony. Tough courses next week. And our team is starting to gel.

Good job to all you Gators.

Our TTT was 3rd place, we got two guys in the top-10 of cat3 (5th and 6th), and I won a prime.

I got 11th in the C's, but I was more trying to get off the front with someone. Of course no one would let us go. I caught third in one of the primes. I got 7th in the 5's with the guy in front of me dying with 25 meters to go and me having no where to go.

botto version: I raced. I won.

While that is "the truth" and "nothing but the truth" it isn't "the whole truth". The "whole truth" is a lot less exciting. My teammates did exciting things (Won the Cat 3 ITT, won the Cat 3-4-5 TTT, 2nd place Cat 3 crit, in the money (8th) in the Pro/1/2 crit). I, on the other hand, won the Cat 5 55+ ITT. Perhaps next time I'll try it with aerobars.

We will see you in Statesboro on the 14th + 15th.

By the way do you know where I can see the results for the UF race? I can't find them online.

I guess you could say that I worked a little too much. I just get anxious about people getting away and end up chasing them down for the field... I just hate the thought of sitting in and sprinting for 6th at best since some guys got up the road. I any event... I didn't let that happen. On the last lap I got on the front on the backside uphill section and drilled it and ended up giving a good leadout for the entire field behind me, I got swallowed up somewhre in the final 50 meters or so and got 22nd. At least I felt like I raced afterwards.

Hey mike, I figured you were on bikeforums since you mentioned you recognized me from the photos. Nice to meet you...see you next time. I'll tell you now, I'm either breaking away (unless its super windy) or I'm going to eat up the field sprint after not doing any work all race (unless, I can't help myself again)!

BTW, I lost my derailleir screws on those cobbles. I took my wheels off after the race and my derailleur was hanging by the cable! I must admit I was worried about my zipps and my bike every time over those cobbles in turn 1 and 2...

Yeah, those cobbles were rough, and the 2nd turn really was messy. The sound of carbon wheels going over the bump out of turn 1 was very disturbing for sure.

The Cat4 race I was in that 2 man break for a while, but everyone kept trying to chase/bridge, so we got caught with like a lap left. Let's not talk about my experience in the Collegiate B's...
Congrats to the CycleLogic crew. You all did great this weekend.

This was my first race and I'm hooked. I didn't place well at all, but had a great time. I sat in the front for the majority of the race, but ended up in the rear because of some dumb mistakes. My next race will be NGCSU and I plan on doing lots and lots of hill repeats until then.

My first podium ever, 2nd place in the Cat V ITT. I was the first off the blocks so I didn't have a carrot to chase, I didn't feel so strong because the whole way out was a headwind but when I got to the turn around and got to look back up the road I didn't see my 30 second man so I figured I was doing OK. Ended the race really strong but I was still pretty surprised when I saw the results. All in all it was a super fun weekend and the TT course was way better than the previous year and the management was waaaaay better this year as well.

YMCA

the management was waaaaay better this year as well.

That's because Timmo (TopViewSports) took it over from the UF kids.
When you get a different group of college students trying to promote for the first time, every year, it can be a real clusterhoot.

Anybody remember the years of doing the P12 right before dark and getting the race shortened to 20-30 minutes?
