Bicycle Mechanics - Laugh - then help

Well I tried to do something myself on my bike today and couldn't even get past step one.. Wanted to put on a new set of roadbars today, and realized after I pulled the bar tape off the currrent set that one of the cables on each side runs through the inside of the bar (integrated cable? or somsuch fancy name).

So - how do I remove the current bars since there is a cable running inside it from each brifter? Is that easy to do, or a pain?

You take the cables off at the derailers and brakes, then you take your handlebars off.
What are you changing from/to?

yuck - that's what I didn't want to hear :) The brakes and shifting is all adjusted so nicely I don't want to have to undo the cables at the derailers or the brakes. So no way to undo the cable at the brifter to make it easier?

Well, you could destroy your old bars. :roflmao2:

But really, since it's just one cable each it's either just the brakes or the ders.

Brake adjustment is rather straightforward and if your stops are set correctly on your ders, it's just a matter of cable tension to dial them in.

Yep, if you take them off at the brifters you'll have to cut the cable heads off, and then you still need new cables opposed to reusing the old ones. Recabling and readjusting the bike is fairly easy, and is a good thing to know in case you ever bend your rear derailer on a ride. Consider this a great time to learn.
