228.4 today (2-2-2009). I was worried that I wouldn't have a good number this week after having an exceptional 3.6 pound loss last week but I made my goal loss of at least 1.5 pounds per week with a 1.8 pound loss this week.

Not a good week for me, it was my birthday last week, and each daughter had me over on a different day for supper and then my brothers and sisters took me out for lunch yesterday. Total wieght gain was five pounds for the week back up to 274.

I think I would like to get on this as well. I've been tracking on my own for a couple of weeks since I started making some major changes, but I just got my bike in this weekend.

As of this morning I'm sitting at 436. My goal for this week would be to lose at least 1 lb. As well as to ride at least three times, increasing my distance by .5 miles each time.

Also, if anyone has any advice for a big guy like myself just getting started please pm me.

Thanks.

Same this week as last week :). 145. I just need to keep on pedaling and not eating too much.

Weighed in at 216.8 lbs. (-1.4). Made my goal of riding 5 days (indoors) and at least 16 miles per day (1 hour).

Saturday was 30 days since my first Fitness Test (CTS), so time to see how things changed. My Average Maximum Heart Rate was 163. Last month it was 160. Getting fit!

Goal for next week is to lose another 1-2 lbs. and 5 days of riding. It is supposed to get up into the 50's here this weekend. Might get to go outside and ride. Unfortunately, my wife got some bad news about her mother's health which may supersede any of these plans.

My weiught as of Sunday was 178.5...that's a day early onthe weigh in - but I wanted to weigh in on my scale first thing in the am. So I am hoping I am that weight or lower next week- as I weighed in the day after a long ride!

Goals: Drink lots of water
Cut down on alcohol and bread

Start year at 100kg/220lb
2nd week at 98.5/217.1
3rd week at 99/218.2
4th week at 97.5/215
this week at 97.3/214.5

Hmmm, only a half pound (nothing really, if you account for variations in hydration).

Too much socialising over the long holiday week!

Hello. I'm new. Won't have any mileage until my arm recovers from surgery but I can start on the other goals that I have.

- starting weight 255lbs
- modify intake to include more fruits & veggies and less fatty/sugary stuff
- drink 8 8oz glasses of water per day, beyond workout fluids
- walk daily
- loss goal .5 -.75 lbs per wk

This week = 253.5 lbs. Drinking lots water. A lot of fruit and veggies. Still at least 6 weeks from being able to ride again.

So this is my first weigh in and report for the group. Thanks for letting me get onboard late!

Weight: 281.8

Goals for the week:
-Eat "healthy food" all week with the exception of 2 "cheat meals"
-Weight lift 3 days this week

Hi MaxedOut - It could be worse!Keep posting here and keep working it. I think the key is just to keep on reporting in and eating healthier each week - we may go up and down...but just think where'd we be if we just say f^&* it and say I have blown it...who cares?? So I am going to keep showing up...slow and steady or slow with some ups and downs may just win the race for the Bee.

Maxed out, I like to weigh myself daily because I believe it gives me a better idea of my weight. Some days you just weigh quite a bit more because of what you ate/drank the day before. If you start hopping on the scale daily you'll know your weekly highs and lows, maybe your weigh in day was just a high one for you. I'm with Missbuble, what if you just said F-it, then you'd probably be up 5 instead of breaking even. Don't give up and if you need more advice or encouragement, hit me up. I lost 100lbs the healthy way, gained 50 back unfortunately by eating like **** for the past year and a half but I'm back to my old self again and this time I'll keep off the extra 50 for good.

I'm determined to get this weight off(37 lbs to go to reach my major goal)so while I do get depressed and feel like quitting I look at the long term and push on.

I'll try and weigh myself everyday so I can get a baseline set.

Keep up the great work you two
Thanks :)

Current Weight: 255.4
Goal Weight: 254.0

Goal is to ride the 17-mile ride on Sat. and the 23-mile ride on Sunday for a 40-mile week. Training for the Ride to Conquer Cancer in Louisville this September, so I need to get my two day riding distance stamina up.

Hey Aidanpryde, are these rides by chance part of the Louisville Bicycle Club? Just asking because my parents live there, my dad's a member but has never gone on a ride, I know he'd like to but I think he's nervous about it. He's only been riding a few years and he's not that fast.

I'm gonna jump in on this. I don't have a weight right now, but I suspect I'm right around 228 or so. I was doing really well right after the first of the year, getting up early and getting a workout in, but I let myself slip. Whatever I lost I gained back.

My weight goal this year is to gain that elusive "clyde emeritus" document from Tom and stay that way.

Cycling goals this year are to beat my mileage from last year and to do better in the two organized events I rode.

Yes Mike they are. Tell him to try the Saturday Slow & Easy. It starts at 10am every Saturday. It is 17 miles, and is through downtown, so there is absolutely no climbing whatsoever. Also, since it is through downtown, there are a good number of traffic lights and stop signs, so there are plenty of chances to stop and catch a quick swig of water or take a breath. The average speed is something like 10-12mph for the back group, and the ride is swept, so no one gets left behind. There are a bunch of great people that ride it and he will not have anyone curse him if he is in the back.

If he's worried about riding in the road, let him know that most of the trip is on multiple-lane, lightly used streets, so there is not anything to worry about with drivers skimming people or ticked off because they are stuck behind bikes.

This is really the perfect beginner ride. Once he gets comfortable there are plenty of shorter rides on the weekends or week nights that are designed for new riders. There's even a bike safety class that has like 8 sessions in the spring and summer.

I'll send you a PM with my e-mail. Give it to him and he can e-mail me if he has any questions.

Here is the thing I made a spreadsheet (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pBGgx7S5HYrBD6s9WusSCRQ) on google docs click on the link to go there and save it so you can update it each week I have made it editable to the world since having it any other way is a bit of a hastle.

How about some good news!

I'm finally getting out of this hotel, and back into the house. The restoration process is still ongoing, but I just can't take it here anymore. All this eating out, and lack of riding my trainer is driving me crazy. Not to mention all the weight I've probably gained (have not weighed myself in 30 days).

So my solution was to build a temporary shower in the basement. Since we have another toilet, that was never a problem. I'll finish that little project tomorrow, so I plan to be home Monday at the latest. I will get this ship (me) righted once I get back to some regularity.

Time to buy that new scale, Yay! :D

This week's weigh-in is 254.8. Not as much as I had hoped, but it's .6 pounds in the right direction, so I am happy. Also, I got in nearly 40 miles this week, thanks to some nice weather for a change.
