Not the gruppo, the color. I figure this would be a thread topic as stupid and juvenile as the Bruce Springsteen Sucks discussion, and given the mental midgetry here, it might we well received.

So, Red sucks.

I was seriously bummed when I found out Surly discontinued red as one of the colors they offered the Long Haul Trucker in - just before I ordered my frame a bit over a year ago.

Can I blame your LBS pcad?

If your LBS "hates" red...it could be that most of their customers don't like red either.

I just explained to my wife after she complained that most of the bike shop's stock is boring black, gray and silver that we have to buy what the customers want. The "wild" colors sell slower than the drab ones. When all we have left is a wild color, despite it being a fit in every other way, the color ends up being the dealbreaker.

Red, more than any color, eventually fades from sunlight. Don't know why but you can see this on older cars with red paint. Maybe one of you super genius scientist types can tell me why. Regardless, I love red. It's hawt.

the pigment breaks down quicker because more red light gets through the air than the other colours.
