Lame thread, I know. But I'm having a hard time deciding. Is a museum too "intense?" Comedy club too impersonal? I, obviously, am a grown-up child when it comes to dating. I was spoiled in a long-term relationship and trying to get my brain around dating again. Just curious what you guys would think.
And in case it comes up, she doesn't own a road bike and I only own 1.

As "fun" as comedy clubs are, they are hard to 'talk' like any club. So I vote for an Art Muesum. However, don't make mistakes I've made in the past.....if you are really in to the content at the museum, be careful not to come across as an obsessed art snob.
Art museum will give you a chance to talk, get to know each other, walk around, etc.
Comedy club is a better diversion, not as good a chance to get to know the other person. However, it will tell you what sort of sense of humor your date has, or has not, and will allow you to hear our date's laugh hopefully. Eternity is a long time to spend with an annoying laugher.

Comedy Clubs are usually a bit nasty as well....she might get offended. I would go the Museum first...for sure if there is something there you want to see. If your not sure it would pay to do a little research...throwing out a few words about a collection they have might be usefull.

Tell us about the date. Depends on your date.
You forgot "Strip club"
Hey, it worked for Benjamin Braddock.

There is only one museum in Florida, Big Daddy Don Garlits' Museum of Drag Racing. Poor KT had to travel thousands of miles to see a painting.

Ok, well here's her deal. I went out with my cousin and some of his buds to a place called Bikini's. It's kind of like a Hooters or any other sports club where the waitresses are scantily clad. I should mention that I'm not normally a sports-bar kind of guy so I'm a little squeamish there.
So the waitress starts talking to me at the bar and it turns out we went to the same school overseas at different times, have the same taste in books, lives in my neighborhood, and a bunch of other small-world type of BS. One of the things we talked about was how neither of us have been to a museum in our neighborhood. When I got up to leave she stopped me and gave me her number. I call her a few days later and ask if she wants to go to the museum. She says she would.
So her deal, apparently, is that she is like 28 or so, I'm guessing, and works at a medical center doing something, maybe medical transcription, is also a nanny (or au pair or whatever you want to call it), and at night puts on a bikini and works at the sports bar. She hgs an undergrad in some hard science, I can't remember what, and is getting a masters. She sounds pretty interesting.
That's all I know. Then I find out that a comedy club opened up and a decent local comedian will be there the night we are supposed to go out. I was thinking it might save us from a potential two-hour awkward conversation. Keep in mind that during our initial conversation she was wearing a bikini, she was sitting very close to me, and I was half-drunk. Strange that a first date has to follow that show.
Apologies if the above is tmi.
Definitely the art museum. she is intellingent and works hard, including being in a bar to work. Last thing she will want to do is go to a bar/comdey club on her time off.
she told you she likes museums.
end thread.

To see a painting, yes. But there was the museum in St. Pete that rotated interesting cultural type exhibits. The time I was referring to was when I took a girl to the Florida International Museum for an exhibit about "they mysteries of Peru" or something like that. She thought I was a little too in to it. I guess it's a good thing she didn't know me a year before when I went to "the Splendors of Ancient Egypt" at the same museum.
Hey wait! There is too a painting museum in Florida.....the Dali museum is in St. Pete as well, so there. :p Though I doubt it gets as many visitors as Don Garlits' Museum of Drag Racing.
Art museum. Walk and talk. An ideal non-threatening venue!

With that info. Museum. Grow a pair. You were able to ascertain that you went to the same school, have similar tastes in books, and a bunch of other stuff and you're worried about awkward conversation b/c you'll be sober? Dude, you have all this beta already, engage.

Take a Hooters girl who gave you her number to an art museum on a 1st date?
I vote comedy club. Having said that, I would call her and give her both options and see which she picks.

Art museum will give you a chance to talk, get to know each other, walk around, etc.+1. Art museum was a successful 1st date for me with the current guy! we both majored in art in college, though and have a healthy interest in art & des. finding a museum with a special exhibit in something might be helpful if you arent sure if it would be her thing.

No
You can't make a blanket statement about these two. They are so different. It would depend heavily on the type of person whethere either one of these would ever be appropriate.

None of it was TMI. The museum would be a much better choice, and would allow you to spend more time getting to know her and, conversely, for her to get to know you.
Try to follow it up with a (small and inexpensive) dinner or dessert. This will often times gauge how interested she is in you. If she accepts, then you know that things are going well. If she asks, then it's almost definite that she's very interested in at least getting to know you and spending more time with you.
Take it easy, be yourself and enjoy the moment. Best of luck!

1. What is there to figure out here?
2. Make sure you only look at her eyes at the museum, it'll probably be a nice change of pace.
3. And I would be remiss if I did not add, this thread is worthless without pics.

Do I have to come there and take this poor woman to the museum myself?:p

Good point. The point is to see if she's willing to spend more time with the OP, provided that he's willing.
taker her to a hooters, maybe she gets 1/2 price on beer n wings
