The groundhog has spoken. Well, Phil hasn't spoken. He leaves that to Gus, the PA Lottery's spokescritter

I'm sure 10,000 miles and Miss Bumble and all the other Texan C/A's will agree with me.

I refuse to let a rodent dictate the weather. I rely on the farmers almanac.

Oh that was today? I was paying that much attention to it. All I care is that I look outside and its snowing and raining at the same time right now and is going to do something like that for the next 3-4 days.

I have actually attended the event in Punxsutawny a few years ago. I was reluctant to go because I thought it was a complete waste of time. However, I went, mostly to protect my wife and kids who were going regardless whether I went or not. I had heard stories of drunken revelers and fights, etc. I was actually surprised at how well mannered everyone was and the police presence. It truely amazes me that people hang out at a little park in the woods called Gobbler's Knob in the the middle of friggin' nowhere in frezing weather. It is a fun atmosphere as they keep you entertained as there are about 5000 people dancing in the woods to keep warm from 2 AM until the little rodent comes out of his hole around 7:00 AM. I had fun. Would I do it again? Probably not. You have to park in town and then they bus you to the Knob because there is no where to park and they close the roads and won't let you drive there. The roads are usually snow covered and icy so riding a bike there would be hazardous.

I came across this new article this morning and couldn't help but laugh. The copy cats seem to be in every state. In New York the rodent bit Bloomberg. Here is the link.

Personal experience has taught me that if the groundhog sees his shadow you get six more weeks of winter.
If the groundhog doesn't see his shadow you get six more weeks of winter anyway.. ...

Well my own ground hog, Ralph and his family, are still in hibernation under the garden shed. So I guess he confirms Phil's forecast.
