Chances are that I'm going to move in Limoux (Languedoc-Roussillon) for a couple of months.

Seems to be a good spot for cycling.

Anybody want to share experiences?

Contact Chris Georgas at Le Monastere Adventures (www.lemonastere.com). He and his wife have lived in Limoux for a long time and organize weekly bike tours from their B&B in town, and he's always been very generous with his knowledge and experience.

i'm spending the year right now living in the Aveyron, about an hour north of Toulouse. I've posted a few photo intensive posts, you can search them under the title "A year in France" the riding is sublime- endless roads in every direction in a beautiful landscape. Lots of cycling clubs if you're into that too. Where exactly will you be living (what city/village)? I'm also organizing an affordable trip for the TDF, check it out at www.twowheelsgoodtours.blogspot.com

...i'm a little over 2 hours from Limoux (looked it up), let me know when you're coming over and we can hook up and do some riding if you want. there's also another bf member- cyclezealot who is very nice and lives even closer to Limoux.
let me just say it again, the riding here is SO good, at least compared to Los Angeles where i'm from. You will love it.

Yeah I saw your posts and blog...your photos are indeed very inspiring!

My decision is not taken yet but there's 99% chance that I'll make the move.

I would be there around march 15 if all go as planned. I won't come back before the end of summer or maybe more. It would be a great idea to get together yes!

If France is better than California...just imagine how better it will be compared to -35 celcius here in Canada ;)

Bought a bottle of "Blanquette de Limoux" yesterday to get un avant goût du pays!

Great. I'll keep you posted...the decision will be taken tonight. Is it possible to ride all year long?

this winter has been a litle hit and miss with a fair bit of snowy mornings, but we've still been getting in about 500 miles per month, except November which was about half that because it rained a ton. The last two days were above 50 and nice sunny.

The wheel is in motion...no turning back now...

So I'll be dans le département de l'Aude in march.

Great times ahead!

Yes, I did one in 2000. I also worked for Le Monastere in 2005 for a month. Their tours are so popular they're typically sold out 18 months in advance, with something like a 70% return rate, making it hard for "new" people to get to experience them.

Seb. I tuned in a little late. Maybe you are on the plane by now.. Anyway , welcome. You will be about an hours drive north of us. Our winter has been cooler than normal. Sounds like a little warmer than Surferbruce's. Our bigger problem is usually the winds called the 'tramontes.' We had one day of snow and it was gone within a couple hours. It's been few days that the temperature has been below 2 degrees C. . This winter's normal low has been about 4 C. With highs about 13-15, maybe. The winter has not been severe enough to harm our orange trees. So , it has not been all that bad.
While riding about I've noticed Farmers are beginning Spring planting, so that must be a good sign.
Riding is excellent in Roussillon. Unless the winds interfere.
Hard to summarize our excellent riding.. A bike forums member has been contacting me about vacations in Roussillon. So , I posted some of my favorite pictures of the region under "advertise Your services, "Roussillon Promotions," here at Bike Forums... I don't know why I choose that sub-forum. ?.

Hopefully those pics will be of interest.
Should you want to check out local clubs, they will be listed at the web site below. . You are in the Aude region signified by the number 11. The code number for Aude and which you will see on local automobile plates.
Should you get by our way , bring your bike. Be happy to show you around. Your family will love Collioure, I am sure. Our favorite French town..
Limoux. Great choice. ' Blanquette de Limox,' a favorite white wine.

Today in Roussillon , it was warm enough, I kept my arm warmers within my jersey pocket..= Just in case I got home too late.. Much more of this and we'll need sunscreen. Ah. Spring . Riding among the vineyards I could smell the odor of fertilizer as the vineyards prepare for spring.
