I bought a "newly overhauled" Garmin Edge 305 on eBay in late October. I never really bothered to register it because who ever does? I'm having a warranty issue now and they have asked me to register it. I attempted to do this on their site, but apparently the unit has already been registered. My assumption is that the previous owner of this system (before it was overhauled) actually registered it and now their name is connected to my unit.

I contacted the guy that sold it to me on eBay and I am waiting for a response. I know someone will probably say the unit was stolen, which, while totally possible, is unlikely because this guy pushes several hundred of these monthly. If he was selling stolen units I think he would have had a problem a long time ago.

What are my other options? I think contacting Garmin would be a good idea. I'm not totally sure what they can do but I will try them soon.
How necessary is the registration process?

I haven't got a 305, but I do have a Garmin Satnav.

I'd recommend contacting them, they have been very helpful to me.
