Lord help me, I believe there are pictures of me wearing clothing like this as a child.
A trip back in time: the 1977 JCPenney Catalog (http://15minutelunch.blogspot.com/2007/10/strap-in-shut-up-and-hold-on-were-going.html)
Take a wild guess which store was my parents' favorite when I was growing up.

Nicely done, sir.
Of course, there are some super lame fashions out today. One kid in my geology class makes sure he is color coordinated. He wore a purple shirt, and purple "camo" jacket, and a purple hat with his ears tucked... Pretty sweet. ;rolleyes:
Oh, the the spin off thread titles from this thread should be interesting.

Hah! I had a jacket like this back in the '70s. If I remember correctly, I bought mine at Sears.
I had a navy blue polyester suit with red and white stitching at all the seams. One row of stitchin in each color. I would have been around 10 or so.

That stuff is awesome. Maybe that's a reason I've purged many childhood memories from my mind.
I dunno if that's worse than seeing someone with multiple popped collars around campus modified to show as much male "cleavage" as possible.
Yeah, I remember this shirt:

yeah, had the hair, too:notamused:

1970s. WTF?!?!?!?!
http://blog.lib.umn.edu/richlee/Thoughts/journey.jpg
And as we probably all know, the 80s to present are mostly tame and fairly subdued when it comes to "regular" clothes, thank goodness. So what is up with the 1970s? Why was men's fashion suddenly, and briefly so outlandish? We may never know.

Unfortunately, it'll most likely be the stuff in the Penney's catalogue that comes back.

I think I actually HAVE that suit, or one almost identical to it..

I too grew up in the 70's...plaid and all. Is it any wonder I reject any and all sense of fashion. Blue jeans or shorts and T-shirt are the ultimate clothing as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, that's the point. Pretty much everything I posted likely wouldn't even be noticed (although I intentionally posted a "outlandish" jacket from the 50s) other than simply being considered a nice suit. Oh, except the clothes from the 70s.

I think men in the 70's were finally getting in touch with their feminine side.

The 70's were all about the cannabis. This is my wife and me in 1979. I am a little, shall we say, messed up.

More on the 1970's. Is there anything worse than the Leisure Suit?

Discussion Questions:
#1. Explain why a blue jacket, white shirt, and white pants are popular color combinations to use when leaning against an automobile.
