Come on. You're jumping to conclusions. It's probably just a large tumor dripping pus into the air sacs.

actually, one of the mistakes you can do while you have an unidentified sickness is to walk yourself into the hospital check in.
it's best to call a hospital or 911 so they can pick you up and not contaminate other patients at the hospital.

At this point, I don't want him to go to the hospital. Far more interesting to see what he can incubate.

FYI - In college, I was in very good aerobic shape such that I didn't realize I had pneumonia at first. So by the time I finally went to the emergency room, I was totally laid out. Had to spend the next 4 weeks flat on my back.

But really, don't go to the hospital.

I did that a few months back too. The last straw was going for a ride with a doctor-friend of mine on a day off from work. I was pulling my 18-month-old in a trailer and we went for a longish (maybe 10 miles each way) ride. By the end of the ride I was coughing up a lung and felt like warmed-over garbage. She pulled out her stethoscope and listened to my chest. "You've got pneumonia!" she said.

"Huh," I replied. "I knew I was a little sick."

Don't worry. You don't die until 108. When it reaches 107, take some aspirin and a cold shower.

ER....asap!

If you want to get really quick service....tell them you were exposed to a level 5 infectious agent.
Ebola would be a good one. Yersinia Pestis might raise a few eyebrows. Hantavirus will definitely get the attention of ER staff in your neck of the woods.

Don't listen to these guys who are trying to send you to an ER -- just go to a regular doc. 103 is high so if you've been there for a few days, you have something that your body is having trouble getting rid of. The doc will either help you directly or send you to a hospital where another doc will figure out what you have.

A few years ago, I had gurgling in my lungs and a fever of 103. When I was unable to treat myself, I called a doc and they made space for me within 45 min. Turns out, all I had was some sort of respiratory infection. They gave me some atom bomb antibiotics that started kicking in within 1 day. Within 4 days, I was able to work.

banerjek, his problem is a lack of insurance and spending money. The ER cannot refuse him service. A MD may well refuse to see him, hence our advice to get his sick arse to an ER.

banerjek, his problem is a small dwarf has taken up residence in his spleen. The ER cannot refuse him service. A MD may well refuse to see him, hence our advice to get his sick arse to someone that can give him a proper leeching and bleeding.

F*ck. Temp is still high. I'm going to head to the ER later. The thing is, I feel ok. it just feels like a cold at this point, but with my temp so high, I'm worried. God dammit.

Had similar symptoms one time....x-ray freaked out the doctor...he had no idea how my 02 sat was as high as it was. The x-ray showed lots of fluid. Get there now.

If you plan on eventually paying for it, go to the regular doc. Much cheaper than an ER. Or even an urgent care clinic. The ER is obscenely overpriced, and expect to spend hours on the phone trying to negotiate the bill. Don't know what your situation is, just saying.

I order fish and bird antibiotics (same as human generics) and keep them around in case of crap like this. :( Or at least I'll have to once I'm off my semi-permanent massive dose antibiotics.

Good luck! Urgent care will be less of a wait, and some give you a discount if you don't have insurance. I've gone to one before because it was cheaper than the doctor's office for vaccines.

UnsafeAlpine

Just got back. Wait was nil, they gave me a 15% discount. Temp is back down in the 97 degree range but she said there was some crackling in my lungs. She wanted to do an x-ray, but, well, since that costs money, I said no. So she gave me a prescription for antibiotics and I'll be taking that.

:thumb: Good going. Unless I'm in an ambulance I'm not going to an ER. Since they have to treat everyone, they charge obscene amounts to make up for everyone that won't pay. I have insurance, but the co-pay for an emergency room is twice what you have to pay for an urgent care clinic. Actual costs are much more than double for the ER.

Glad you're all right, UA. Did she say what is causing the lung crackling? If your air looks anything like our air....
