Touring - yellowjersey.org

Hi,
I'm looking to get a Zefal HP air pump and the only place that really seems to carry them is yellowjersey.org and I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with ordering with them?
because they do not have any ordering system on their website, just want to make sure its trustable.

They're a great place to deal with, but in my experience it's simpler to pick up the phone and call them than it is to get through their website.

This is my LBS. Very trustworthy, but their web site is frustrating for some people.

Yellow Jersey is an awesome bike shop! I consider the guy that runs it, Andy Muzi, to be the closest thing we now have to a Sheldon Brown since Sheldon's passing.

Andy has encyclopedic knowledge of bicycles of all ages and is a super-nice guy. I buy lots of stuff from him, and I live in Nebraska!

Incredible. Makes me feel old.

I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and this was my LBS when I was growing up. Furthermore, I actually still own the Zéfal pump that I bought there around 1980. (Remembering how incredibly lightweight and high tech the Zéfal seemed at the time.) I don't use that pump anymore, but it still works. In 1983, while I was bicycling from London to Tel Aviv (a long story), I accidentally left that Zéfal pump at an old couple's house in Cypress. In 1984, on the way back, I stopped at their house in case they still had the pump, and they did. I never lost it again.

Kind of sad that such a proud old bike shop (founded in 1969 as I recall) has such an amateurish looking website. Madison has several world-class design firms.

Another very postive experience with YellowJersey.org here. I had some questions about some items I wanted and I called them. The person I spoke with helped me out and she was very knowledged in her answers. I placed the order with her and it was shipped the next day (our conversation took place late in the afternoon), and the package arrived quickly.

You can not go wrong with this bike shop and Andy. I just purchased a beautiful Frejus, 531 Reynolds frame at a great price... Shipping, second to none, had her in three days. Andy helped me on how to re-assemble the Frejus once it arrived, he really knows his stuff. Buy with confidence, and a far as the web site, it tells you right there how to order, and yes, it's a bit difficult to navigate the site, but once you learn where everything is, it's a breeze... I bought spokes there (I went to the store, not on-line) for my last three pairs of wheels.

In case you are not already convinced.....I had a bike with damaged BB threads and contacted Waterford who recommended Yellow Jersey. YJ reamed and chased the shell so it will accept an Italian BB. So now I have the only Mercian on the planet with an Italian BB. They were fast and the charge for parts and labor was more than reasonable. I was so impressed, I ordered a Gunnar road bike from them and again, great service. I have always wanted to visit Wisconsin and when I do, I will most definitely check out their shop.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be going to them for some wheel work for my Raleigh roadster; they're the only place in the U.S. I could find with 32 and 40 hole 28" roadster rims. For the labor they will charge to build the wheels, I figure it will be better to just ship my hubs to them and let them build my wheels rather than building them myself.

If you ever get a chance go to Madison and visit the shop, years ago I visited and it was like a museum with all the different bikes hanging from the ceiling and display cases filled with various campy gear. Everyone that I dealt with was great.

I upgraded to a Brooks there while riding cross-country. Definitely an upgrade from a scavenged old Flite.

Yellow Jersey did the job. I'm very satisfied. First, though, the bad: There is a little bit of a flat spot on the rims, and considering the Raleigh DL-1 uses rod brakes, this is kind of a big deal. I'm pretty sure the flat spots are at the weld seams, so there's not much Yellow Jersey could do about it. I put them on and compared to the old wheels, yeah, I can feel a little pulsing, but the old rims were awful. This is more than tolerable. Now for the good: 8 day turn-around time from when I sent my hubs; that includes shipping two ways. They noticed that the non-drive side nut on the rear hub was kind of stripped (I knew this) and they simply put a new one on. They also used double-butted spokes, a nice upgrade, for no extra money. Aside from the flat spots on the rims (which aren't that bad.... it's just that they're not perfect), the wheels are everything I hoped for. And the price was pretty reasonable to me.
