Road Cycling - Where can I find Organized rides in WI?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a few online resources, but would like more.
I know there are more rides out there, I want to find them.

I already have the following resources:

http://www.mikebentley.com/bike/mwrides.htm

http://www.midwestevents.com/php/cyclingPage.php3?rl=0&SID=

http://www.bfw.org/new_bfw/events/calendar.php

http://www.silentsports.net/index.html

Do you know of anymore good websites or organized rides in Southeastern Wisconsin?

I like to do 56k to 150 mile rides.

Singate, It looks to me like you have the "internet" bases pretty well covered. I don't have anything to add in that respect. However, do you belong to a club? I hear about all kinds of intersting rides from fellow club members that I don't and sometimes won't see on the net. Some of the best rides, no, the best rides I've been on I have found out about this way. It's amazing what a well placed glass of Guiness will do for you after a good ride. Best of luck

I hear that. No actually I do not belong to a club. Frankly I never considered it. I ride with an average of about 20 mph (too fast for most novice riders and too slow for many clubs). I'm not even sure if there is one around here. I know, I know check with my LBS... I will check it out.

Currently I only ride solo or with the Y in a group thing. That and the occasional organized Century (which is the type of riding I'm looking to increase).

My experience has been that if it's not listed in Silent Sports, it's not happening in WI. I don't think there is any place you can go to get a more complete listing.

There's a lot going on up near Green Bay this year (and in Appleton). Door county is also nice.

Are any of you other WI riders planning to do the Horribly Hilly Hundred? I'll be there.

Some of my cohorts have done the Horrible Hilly Hundred. I'm considering that one myself this year. So many rides, so little time.
Singate, from what part of Wisconsin do you hail? With a twenty mile an hour average our A group would give you a challange.

SinGate and I (me) are doing it :)
Only the 100K though as the 200K seems like it may be a bit much for our (my) first ride in that event.
Oh and SinGate (me at home) lives in Oconomowoc.

I used to live and race in and around Eau Claire.

maybe some of you can help me. for years i have been trying to get a reliable route in which to ride to my in-law's house (Bayside, WI) from the NE 'burbs of chicago. It's 75 miles by Rt 94. They live off of Brown Deer Rd.

I just read the Silent Sports' article on the Horribly Hilly Hundreds. Even though I signed up for the shorter route, I'm now seriously questioning what I've gotten myself into. It sounds extra nasty. I need to lose 30 pounds quick!

Hee Hee Hee, I can't wait. I do need to lose about 5 more pounds though prior to ride time. I think it will be a learning experience. I hope to do well enough this year so that I can try the Double Century next year, but with over 10,000 feet if climbs on that one I may be out of my league.
