Texas - Texas to Give Back to Wounded Vets

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you've been following the RollAid Coast to the Coast thread, you know that there's a group of us riding from the DFW area down to Corpus in support of the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists wounded vets with trying to get back to a normal life following their various injuries.

This year, we've been able to procure two handcycles and are in the process of upgrading them to bring down to Brooke Army Medical Center. They will be presented as part of the tour.

We've also set up a donation page for BF, for anyone interested in supporting this great cause that may not be able to take a week off to join the tour. If you feel so inclined, please stop by this LINK (https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=272436&lis=1&kntae272436=A1A0D98FC5A545FE8D9AB00A6912B04D&supId=246372804)and make whatever donation you are able. These men and women have given so much in support of our freedom, any little bit we can give back will be greatly appreciated.

And for anyone that may not have known about the tour, it will be the week of March 8th through March 15th. Come join us for part or all of the trip if you're able. Also feel free to stop by our webpage (rollaid.org) and check out the blog too. Pictures from the 2008 tour will be added soon as well.

Thanks,
Steve

Indeed, I got about 15 minutes of airtime yesterday on a local access TV show to talk about RollAid and our little Coast to the Coast. I have no idea how that's gonna look, but I'll get a link up to the video as soon as I have one.

Barlows got the website up. My company, Venture Encoding, has donated $1,000 to the Lone Star State Challenge, which buys us a bit of cred with the organization.

In other news, RollAid's handcycle project nears ccompletion. On Monday, we raised about $700 dollars in 4 hours to pay for the adaptive parts needed to upgrade the two handcycles we'll be presenting to the Rehab facility at Brooke Army Medical Center. The presentation will take place at Mellow Johnny's in Austin, on March 11th, when Soldier Ride makes their first Austin tour. This should be a pretty big event - I've been given to believe that my daughter's favorite band, Flyleaf, will be there to play a set, along with several local celebs and dignitaries.

RollAid - This is how we say Thank You.

Great job Truman, well done indeed.

I circulated the link at work, so hopefully some more support will roll in from there. I forwarded a request to HR for matching funds but I don't know how that will go.
