Foo - Tossing Your Butts (Don't Get Excited)

Driving to work and the guy in front of me throws his cigarette out the window; not unusual, it happens all the time.

I wasn't anywhere close to tailgating, but the butt bounces and the wind gets it and the butt goes right into the grill of my car and my HVAC sucks it in.

5 hours later, and it still smells like a lit cigarette in my car.

I don't think I need to say any more...

That's cool. I just checked, Washington does have something similar, but they just send a letter explaining the litter laws.

I've used it before. I need to get that site on my iPhone so I can do it when I see it happen (of course, I'll have my wife report it while I drive).

I want to bum a cigarette off of someone then dispose of it right in front of them.

I don't want to just toss it in a garbage can because they could get it and use it, and stepping on it would be littering, and tearing it up and throwing it away would make my fingers smell, so maybe I could throw it in a near-empty drink container and toss that. Problem is that I rarely buy drinks.

I had a co-worker that often would get out of his car at lights and throw cigarettes back into the car that threw them out. I had a female co-worker that followed a guy all the way home after he threw a butt out and it landed on her hood.

I think in both cases the offender is so stunned they didn't react.

When I was much younger, 16-ish and driving, a lady threw her butt out and it landed on the car I was driving. I coaxed her into the shoulder and told her to pick it up. When she wouldn't, I blocked her for a long time and made her drive down the road behind me at 10 mph for a while until she finally turned into a parking lot. This was before cell phones. Of course at the time I thought I was saving the world, but now I can't believe I did such a thing. I was a hot-headed teen, I guess.

It isn't that hard to pinch out your butts and put the filter back in the pack. That's what I did, when I still smoked.

coke can in the center console. I just put all the butts in there and threw it away and replaced it daily.

My co-worker hates the smell of other people's smoking, and he smokes at least a pack a day himself (just at work).

A certain family member whose identity will not be revealed once threw a butt out the open window of his car. What he didn't know was that the slipstream sucked the butt into the back seat. He got home, rolled up all the windows, shut the doors and went inside to bed.

When he got up in the morning and went out to his car to drive to work, the car was full of smoke. Thinking something along the lines of "WTF?!" he opened the door, causing the small, oxygen-poor fire that'd been smoldering in the back seat all night to burst into a great big, happy, oxygen-rich fire...

I was of the impression that the complaint was smelling smoke in a car, not property damage. If this is about people's lives, throwing a cigarette butt out a window is less lethal than being on the road.

If it's not about that, why point it out?
