Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i've noticed tons of these wheels in pics from the tour of georgia. there are loads of deep section wheels that are much lighter than the cosmics, and yet they're everywhere. i know teams have sponsorship deals that require them to ride a company's wheels, but we're talking serious weight here. what gives?

There are sewup versions of the CC's that are much lighter but the reason they are popular is they roll very nicely and look good.

The same reason the Ksyrium series is popular. They're everywhere, they look good, and are pretty good. However, for the price both the Ksyriums and the Cosmics can easily be beaten on nearly all of their selling features. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with mavic's sponsorship network, and them being a neutral support car often as well.

I wonder how many pro's are using the new true carbon CCs? Their cost/weight makes them seem rather absurd to me...Reynolds on the other hand, mmmmmmhhhhh

i kinda doubt pros would be willing to stake their livelihoods on what looks great. if there are new carbon ones, maybe it makes sense. i just can't imagine why they'd use something that wasn't the lightest/best around.

sometimes the lightest isn't necessarly the best. The right tool for job and personal preference.

They could be rebadged, but often times they appear to have the mavic hubs, thus being mavic wheels. I suppose there must be something new and great with the all carbon Carbones. Zabel and Cipollini have been seen using them while they were using Lightweight’s before.
