I just got my first SS/Fixie bike and I absolutely love it. I have an SE racing Draft lite. I tried riding it fixed and I just can't seem to get it down, so I am just riding it single speed for now. I love the simplicity and fun I have riding it. I kept seeing all of these people riding around town (Eugene,Oregon) on SS/fixies and thought that they had to be crazy not to have gears to switch into! I started to pay attention to how often I shifted when I was riding around town and found that I hardly ever did. So I went down to my LBS and decided to test ride one.....needles to say I fell in love with it! I also have these forums to thank for this as I spent several nights on here reading up on them...So thanks!

reading things on these forums actually encouraged you to buy a fixed gear? I would have thought they would have the opposite effect.
