Howdy all, figured I'd throw it up here and see if anyone has any ideas or leads... Mel Tormé recorded a special cover of Danny O'Keefe's "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues" for an episode of Night Court... anyone know if there's a recording on an album or single or something I could get my grubby paws on?

I'm not a particular fan, but I thought you might like this; it's from The New York Times' weekly section called Metropolitan Diary, where people send in their NYC stories:
Dear Diary:
In the 60's, I worked on Avenue of the Americas near Radio City Music Hall. We often ate lunch farther west at the small Euro restaurants and Broadway delis, where we mingled with the showbiz types who frequented them. One day, going to lunch, I spotted a jazz singer I was crazy about, and, as we approached each other in the middle of the street, I shouted, "Hello, Fog!"
Imagine my surprise when Mel Torme - the Velvet Fog - stepped in front of me, shook his finger in my face and said: "Don't ever call me that. I hate it. Who are you, anyway?"
I stammered out my name and said, "I'm a fan." Without another word, he went on his way and I on mine.
A couple of months later, I was coming back from lunch and whom should I see approaching, talking to a friend, but Mel Torme. As we neared, he glanced in my direction, so I said, "Hello, Mel."
Without breaking stride or looking back, as he and his friend passed by I heard the famous voice wearily respond, "Hello, Harry."

I thought Verve put out some recordings of Mel's stuff recently didn't they? Maybe check their label for your song.
Harry,
I enjoyed the story. I was a Mel fan and have read all his books. His biography on Buddy Rich was excellent. I'll see if I can track down that recording...no promises, but I'll check.
