Hope to be able to do 50 miles by the end of the year.

Just starting back after a misspent youth.

My last bike had a horn in the middle tassles on the handle bars and cards in the spokes.

It's been a while.

90% road 10% trail

Thanks

A mile a week? Sounds doable to me!

Welcome

Our resident hybrid expert, Tom Bombadil, should pipe in shortly.

My take?

Whatever one turns you on.

Which ever one fits YOUR body best and feels the best when YOU ride it.

But I bet you cannot hold yourself down to just a mile a week.

The Crosstrail Elite has better components and doesn't have a suspension seat post so it would get my vote. However, as others mentioned, get the one you feel most comfortable on but also consider which LBS you feel most comfortable at. If you get hooked, this may not be your last bicycle purchase of the year.

+1 If you get hooked, this will not be your last road bike this year.

I would avoid suspension seat post. I hate them.

Otherwise, pick whichever one you like.

Of course, I always buy used, so I wait for a sweet deal to come along.
