Foo - Is it possible to dunk at 6'1''?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
There's a kid we played with a few weeks back, no more an inch or two higher than me if at all higher than me that can straight up dunk over 2 chairs. I was told that it can be learned, if you workout your calf muscles. I know, I know, inane goal jon, but seriously, I WANT TO DUNK. What would one do to learn to dunk?
Go to the gym and work on your legs. Do some powerlifting. Powerlifters usually have an incredible vertical leap number.

I use to be able to. One handed - just barely. I'm 6' But as teens, that's all we tried to do all summer. We practiced it constantly until I could finally get one out of a hundred.
i find it's easier with a cruller. Those round doughnuts are harder to dunk, at least until you take a few bites.

look up explosive exercises. Jumping and such. Some of it, unfortunately, will be limited by your physical make-up, but you can learn to leap.

Position a pickup truck adjacent to the goal and jump off the back.

I went to high school with a guy who was about 5'5", and he could stand under the basket, and without taking a step, jump up and grab the rim with both hands. But Jon, you and I both have the genetic flaw (WMS) that makes dunking a pipe dream.

When I was in high school I could dunk a ten foot goal, and I'm 5'9". My problem was that my hands weren't big enough to palm the basketball, but I could easily dunk one of those red playground balls. I could get my elbow about three inches below the rim. Now I can just barely touch the rim. :( My legs are probably actually stronger now, by I'm also considerably heavier.

Same here, and I'm just shy of 6 ft. But it was extremely rare for me. If I remember correctly, Spud Webb was 5ft 7 inches, played in the NBA and actually won the slam dunking competition one year.

A 6'4" college player I saw once cut his cheekbone on the bottom of the backbaord battling for a rebound
