Since I now have a new bike and am settled in the area, I've been riding to and from work everyday. Does anyone know of any decent bike shops in the area around San Leandro. All the shops I've tried contacting have either been not answering their calls and/or had their numbers disconnected. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It may be a bit far, but Livermore Cycles has a store in Dublin on San Ramon Road that is real nice.

One of my all-time favorites: Stone's Cyclery in Alameda. It is absolutely, postively worth the short drive. This is the real McCoy -- beautiful steel bikes, artisan-level mechanic in the owner, Dennis Stone. OF course, if you are not into classic bikes, are interested only in carbon or aluminum stuff, you should ignore this post. But if you enjoy the real classic stuff, go to Stone's.

Not in San Leandro, but Castro Valley. Eden Bicycles has some pretty nice stuff.

+1 I know several people who swear by their customer service, and they carry some neat brands. I remember seeing Seven, Calfee, Torelli. Plus, if you stop by during a ride they might even serve you a capucino!

They're at 1235 MacArthur Blvd in a small store front. Their website is www.robinsonww.com

Thanks for the tips. I was going to check out Robinson's Wheel Works last week, but they are closed on Sundays. I'll have to get out there this Saturday and see how they are!

Stumbled onto them on a ride a couple months back. Good folks. The main guy spent at least some of his early bike shop days working at Stone's in Alameda. (Dennis Stone ran one of the shops for serious high-end bike goodies in the 1960's and 70's, and it's still a fun place to ogle at good bike porn.) There is clearly a love of bikes and bicycling in Robinson's. Definitely worth checking out.

Eden Bicycles (http://edenbicycles.com/)
Castro Valley Cyclery (http://castrovalleycyclery.com/)
Robinson Wheel Works (http://www.robinsonww.com/)
Cyclepath (http://cyclepath.com/)
Livermore Cyclery (in Dublin) (http://www.livermorecyclery.com)
Performance Bike (http://www.performancebike.com/)
** Listed in no particular order **

Kinda depends on what your needs are. Eden and CVC have a few good wrenches, but not much inventory. Robinson does a lot of high-end stuff and certainly does quality mechanical work. Livermore might have what you're looking for, and Performance brings the internet shopping experience to Dublin. I haven't always been pleased with the guys at Cyclepath -- they only seem to want to sell bikes -- but your experience may be different.

Hope this helps.
