Headed to Tyler for the weekend, ran across a ride in Longview. Freeze your Fanny, anyone here riding?
Going to bring my bike, ready for a few more hills than here in N. Dallas :).

The "Freeze Your Fanny" ride is a great ride. I have ridden it the last 2 out of 4 years. Two years ago it lived up to its name as it was quite cold. This year the temperature ought to be fine but it is forecast to be pretty windy.
The route is approximately 55 miles and it is very hilly for someone like myself that normally rides in Houston. I would normally average 17 to 18 mph; but with the hills I will be lucky to do 15 to 16 mph.
I'll be riding an all Black S-Works Roubaix. Say hi, if you see me.

Sounds good, hope to see you there. I'm on a red black and white BMC Team Machine. Supposed to be pretty windy on the way back with south winds at 15-18mph.

Sorry I missed you as I didn't have computer access to see your last post.
This is a recommended ride; but, pretty tough on the legs at the start of the season given the hills up in Longview. With the mild weather they had the largest number of riders ever.
The south winds with the hills from mile 30 to 52 or so really made the ride "interesting".
I managed to finish the 59.2 mile trek in 3 hr. and 28 min. My heart rate max'ed out a couple of times on some of the steep hills. I rode with my Garmin 705 and it was interesting to see the percent grade on the hills.
At mile 20 I recorded a brief section at 9% while there were a number of 7% grades.

Got there a little late, just as group start, looked but never saw you.
+1 on the recommended ride. Except that I wish it was a little later in the spring, my legs were like Jell-o before the half-way marker. I struggled with some of the steeper hills, they really kicked my *ss. I just havent built up my endurance yet this season. But I pushed on. Nice ride, good support, glad to see so many people out. I will do this ride again, esp if weather is nice like this next year.
