Just curious as to why you will be sticking with a hardtail...I have my own reasons, but why you?

I'm probably am not going to be doing the Alfine on either of the bikes. I'm going to get the drop outs for the 12x135 thru axle for the back and run a 9 speed road cluster and a short cage road deraillieur.

With the sidekick, will go with 1x9 with an XTR deraillieur and XT cassette.

Why road? Close ratio? Shorter cage clearance?

Smaller ratio, better clearance.
