Wow, that's a long sentence ;)

Now, I've been racing on discs for ~6-7 yrs. I've personally owned the following brakes: 2 sets of Hope C2 Pros, Hope Minis, Hope Mono Minis (currently using), Formula B4s, Formula B4 SLs, Formula B4 SL+s (currently using), and Shimano XTR/XT. I will not go back to rim brakes again. The power, the control, the modulation, the lack of maintenance, etc associated with discs make the slight weight gain negligible.

I've never heard of "dice whiplash" brakes, so I can't comment on these. Personally, I'd stick with the big names: Formula, Hope, Shimano, Hayes, Magura, etc. The $450 price tag on the "dice whiplash" brakes is pretty high relative to those I mentioned. You can get the top-of-the-line Hayes Mag Plus for ~$180/brake ($360/set).

These disc brakes are very good for the price (The $450 price is in AUD, Australian Dollars). The exact same brakes are under a different name as well, Armour hydro brakes.

I know people who have used these brakes and have said that they feel and work as well as Hayes Hydros.

Here are some links where you can get either the Dice or Armour's Online for $389 AUD Delivered in Australia.

I would suggest you use the 6" rotors if you are riding trials. The larger rotors would be more pron to bending/warping and you will be replacing them more often.

This may sound strange but if you are looking at only doing trials, try hydraulic v's.

Lot's of trials riders use them, and win with them because:
-They are either on or off (they have very little modulation)
-They are super strong (if you are not careful you can crush your rim)
-They are harder to damge than a rotor
-They are USUALLY cheaper than hydro discs
- Not 100% sure, but have been told they are lighter than discs

So think about the idea of using hydraulic v brakes before dismissing it. Also if you do use them it may be harder for you to get them, I'm guessing that bike stores don't usually get asked if they have hydraulig v brakes.

If you're doing trials you don't want a disc brake on the rear at all unless you like ripping the disc tabs off your frame. Most trials riders run a disc on the front and a hydraulic v-brake (Magura HS-33) on the back.
