Which works best for keeping sweat out of your eyes in the summer?
Does the skull cap retain any heat in the summer?
Which will work best under a helmet?
Thanks

I use a skullcap, but that is also to protect my bald dome from getting "spots" of sun on my head from the vents in my helmet.

Is there a headband that is thin enough to be comfortable under a helmet, but stays in place and doesn't get wadded up? The skull caps work well and I don't notice a heat problem.

I do to, the question is what works best UNDER the helmet to prevent the sweat from dripping. :D
I use to use a bandanna tied off Dew-Rag style under my helmet. Picked up a couple of these the other week though. They have integrated sweatbands inside.

I use something like this. It's pretty thin, doesn't get in the way, and keeps my hair down so the vents can channel air around my dome. Also does a great job keeping sweat out of my eyes.

I prefer the headband. The one I have stays in place pretty well

Skullcap for me, but as with some others it's because a headband wouldn't protect my bald scone. It does a good job of stopping sweat from running off said bald scone and into my eyes, too. Mine is similar to slvoid's, but plain colour - very comfortable under the helmet. I feel far cooler wearing it - yesterday afternoon I had a ride without the skullcap, and my head felt quite disgusting.

Skullcap...i use one made by Underarmour, it wicks away sweat and heat..very comfortable
I've used do-rags, bandanas in the summer, and skullcaps in the winter (the kind that come down over your ears).
But, lately, I've been wearing a cotton USPS cycling cap instead (under my helmet). It keeps the sweat out mostly, and keeps the sun off of my folically challenged noggin. Plus, the brim helps keep the sun out of my eyes. On long downhills or when in the drops/aero bar you need to flip the brim up so you can see up the road.

This is what I have been using the last couple of weeks and I love it. It's very thin but soaks up the sweat. Pretty cheap too.

bandanas are great.. :)
I live in a tropical country, its generally high tempretures w/ high humidities.
Cycling caps work too...
I own 5 bandanas, and 2 cycling caps that I wear those under the helmet.. I do take off my helmet when climbing though..

I sweat a lot, bought one of these last year. Works great, keeps sweat out of my eyes, dries quickly and helemts fits nicely with it on.

I use the Sanitini bandanas. They are great and the wick like crazy. As the ad says, "If it is good enough for Marco Pantani..."

HA HA you bunch of bald badgers!!!!!!
Oh wait, I need one too. I got the vent spots last week. Damn, getting old sucks. I might give the skull caps a try. Nashbar has them on sale.
and keeps my hair down so the vents can channel air around my dome I don't exactly have that particular need.
So they are OK heat wise?

Yup. For me, far cooler head with a skullcap than without.

After reading about the Halo products on this and other forums I bought a headband (Halo 2. it does not tie at the back its a headband). Only used it a few times and it seems to do the job good. I sweat a ton so anything gets overloaded after awhile and drips, but the halo is nice and thin and the rubber gasket in front assures it won't slip and it does seem to take the sweat and channel it to the sides.
I mail ordered a 2nd Halo product the Protex. It's a scull cap that you tie in the back and has a flap that hangs in back as well. It also has the rubber gasket. Used it today and I think I found my solution. One ride does not ensure a verdict, but I like it, probably better than just the headband.

I took an old cool-max shirt, and cut it in in the shape of my helmet and added on the inside of the helmet. Used double sided tape and it stays in place, wicks head sweat and it's ONE LESS THING TO PUT ON! In the winter it seems to slow heat loss a little.
It stayed the helmet without re-taping for over 2 years (until I replaced the helmet).
