Would a SRAM 8spd chain be compatible with a Shimano Deore 9spd crank? I'm replacing my crank and can't seem to find many 8 speed cranks out there. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it will work. Depending on how old your chain and cassette are you might want to change those at the same time.
