So I have some great pictures that I wanted to put up, but of course they are too big.
I am using Windows XP with all of its little bells and whistles.
What I have done so far is to save the pictures to my computer first as a BitMap file, which was way to big at 900kb. So then what I did was to open the picture in Microsoft Paint and resave it as a JPeg file which brought the size down to 104kb, still to big.
So what can I do now to help correct the size issue? Any help at all is appreciated.
Thank you.
(if this has been discussed previously please just point me to that discussion and I will gladly head there :o )

You will have to crop it. I don't know Win XP but perhaps it has some software like Paint or whatever where you can crop it which will cut out some of your picture to make it smaller...

In MS Paint you can, under the "Image" menu, choose "Stretch/Skew." In the window that opens up, enter a percentage of the original size that you want to make the image, say, 50%. Use "Save As" and rename the file if you don't want to lose the original.
If the file size is still too large, download a program like XnView or IrfanView (both available at www.tucows.com). Either of these will alllow you to set the number of DPI (Dots Per Inch) for a file. Screen resolution is 72 DPI. Files saved at larger DPI are good for printing, but not useful for displaying on a monitor.

Oh yeah, Paint allows you to view the resolution of your pictures, but not change the DPI. Choose IMAGE > ATTRIBUTES and the window that pops open will tell you the resolution as a number of DPI by a number of DPI.
In IrfanView, to change the resolution of an image, choose IMAGE > CHANGE DPI. Again, use SAVE AS and rename the file, if you want to keep the original, too.
In XnView, choose IMAGE > SET DPI. There is also a RESIZE feature under XnView's image window.
If I'm not mistaken, both IrfanView and XnView are freeware.
Go on google and search for "windows xp picture resizing power toy".
