Signed up today for an annual ride that takes place in our area and benefits some local groups. There are quite a few options for this one. I am doing the half metric, which will clock out about 35 miles. It winds through some beautiful areas. There are some hill climbing routes that look pretty tough if you want a challenge.

This will be my first organized ride. I've done that distance before so that is not a worry. Should be fun.

Anyone else around here signing up?

I am doing the full century, 103 miles. This will be my second century. I also did Solvang and I had a blast. I am also signed up for the century in Ojai next month.

Wow. This is going to be a pretty good one for you, lots of climbs and wild descents! Is the drop into Camarillo on Protrero behind the University? That's a nasty road....

Good luck on the ride. I'm considering doing the half on the Ventura/SB that will be coming up.

I am doing the Breathless Agony this weekend out of Redlands. Anyone else? My buddy offered his extra ticket to the Conejo ride as his girlfriend isn't doing it, so I might be there. Where are you all from? Any racers?

Suffer on!

I live in Pasadena, so I will be heading there early in the morning.
Ethan, cmon use that free ticket. Let us know how the Breathless Agony ride goes.

Sheldon, I have no idea what the route is. They don't show it on the web site. I would like to know where and how big the climbs are. Solvang had 5000ft of climbing, so hopefully I am ready. I have been doing some longer rides, 65 miles last Sat, and I will do 75 tomorrow. Just keep upping your milage, you will be at the century mark before you know it. If that is what you want.

It looks like the route is similar, in part, to the Rock Store one plus others.
To get some ideas, go to the parent web site of the Ride, www.cvcbike.org. There is a link on the left side titled Local Bike Routes. Click on the ones for the Rock Store, Hidden Valley and Camarillo Loop. Much of this will cover those rides. Web site indicates 6000 feet of climbing for the Century.

I'm considering my next step up to be a 40+ mile ride. My problem is that I don't get huge amounts of time to ride (and train) as my time is constantly being bent in a million directions: wife, 9 year old daughter, work, going sailing and surfing. But one of these days I'll shoot for the Century!

I think the Century starts earlier than our ride but just in case you're around, I'll be on a Giant OCR2 with a Brooks B-17.

Yes, the century starts at 7:00AM. I will be on a Litespeed Firenze. I will be wearing a jersey with a bulldog on it. If you see me, say hi.

Thanks for the route info. I like to know when to save energy and when to go for it.

6000 ft. Sounds fun. In a sick sort of way.
