Last night when the rain let up I just wasn't motivated enough to go out and ride. But this morning the legs were itching to pedal and so I decided to commute to work even though it was pretty wet out. It was just a light sprinkle and my water proof jacket was very effective but man, I really need to get some fenders. Also I think I'll leave the leg warmers at home next time since it wasn't very cold out and they mostly just absorbed water.
Anyway as I was parking my bike in the locker at work, someone just getting out of their car commented on how visible my headlight (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16501) was. Evidently I had been riding behind him at some point and he could see me from really far away. He asked what kind of light it was and when I told him, he seemed very knowledgeable about the latest LED flashlights and asked if I was a bikeforums member ;) I wonder how many sales that one thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=464765) has generated for DX?
I already forgot the guy's bikeforums handle but if you're reading this do say hello or send me a pm :)

i just bit the bullet, this week, and bought that flashlight. i'm currently running my fenix L2Ds but i couldn't resist having more light. :thumb:
I was out on Tuesday evening to do my normal ride up HW9. At the Y where Mt. Eden and Stevens Canyon split a driver rolled down his window and commented how well the road was lit up. He said more cyclists should have a helmet mounted light as it helps drivers around curves.

I bought MyLilPony thisLight & Motion Stella 200L LED Headlight and I am amazed how bright it is. They claim 200 lumins. Is that flashlight even brighter? That would be amazing! I might get one for my helmet if it's that amazing.
But it looks like I need a battery and charger, so what does that add to the about-40-bucks for the light price ?

That sounds right. Here is what I got:
* Batteries (twin pack) (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5790) $10.00
* Charger (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.6105) $8.44
* Light (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16501) $47.99
* Mount (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12000) $2.50
No tax or shipping charges. Actually shipping can take about 2-4 weeks, I guess that's a significant cost to consider :)
I actually got an extra pair of batteries and a couple different mounts so my total was a little higher. The mount I have listed above is pretty good at attaching the light to my helmet. My only complaint is that aligning the light w.r.t. the helmet is tough. You're kind of at the mercy of the shape of your helmet vents. I got the up/down pitch angle of my light set but it points about 5 degrees to one side so I have to turn my head slightly to make the light shine straight ahead.

Thanks, Ben. I was browsing the deal extreme site but they did not do a good job in terms of guiding me to accessories (mounts, chargers, extra battery) so your post made it nice and easy.
What a price! I guess I'm going to get it. I feel like I have enough light but I fantasize some day, er night, venturing into the MtB trails. Maybe this will help me realize that.

It looks like they don't make a mount that will go on my handlebars.

The one above (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12000) works fine.
I have mine on my bars, and use it every day.
