Charity Events - Indianapolis Team Stormcrowe 2009: We're ready to go!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Got mine, too. I got the Brinkman Smoker Grill, instead. :D My neighbors are going to hate me. :p
They won't hate you, they'll be at your house wanting some of that pork shoulder you've been smoking all day!

I'm thinking more of when I smoke a small prime rib, or a duck or small goose. :p If the wind is right, you may be able to catch a whiff down there in Brazil, Indiana.

Anyone received their certificate yet? I got the Tshirt, but anxiously awaiting the paperwork! I'm planning on framing the medal, the cert, bib number, and my jersey once it shows up.

Heck, I didn't even think of posting a pic, I'll take care of that when I get off work tonight. As far as the certificate, nope, I got the black 100 mile shirt and now my 'reward' jersey. Frankly I had forgotten about the certificate.

I got my jersey two days ago. Now I just need it to be nice enough to wear; its cold in the morning.

Just go the email notice saying 2010 registration is open, and the fee is only $15. Plus a free T Shirt for registering. Are you going to do a team page Tom, or can we switch over once you have it up & running?
I hope I do it again this yr, last yr was amazing!
Great event, can't wait for June to come around again. We haven't signed up yet, but Mrs. Zoxe and I will be shooting for the full century in 2010. New bikes in the garage to support this (altho she did 50mi on the Townie last year, we're not THAT crazy). Trying to get my folks, brother, and/or inlaws to go this year (father in law took those great pictures last year). Will point them at Team Stormcrowe if Tom is doing the honors again this year.

Cool....
Anybody interested in riding Katy Trail west to east? Has anyone here rode already? It'll take a few weeks before I'm ready for any big bike trips, but I'm willing to do a spring or pre Indy ride if anyone wants to get together. I'm guessing a week to do it all with camera in hand, just a few days without. :winter2:

I don't know yet if I am going to be able to do TdC for 2010. It just depends on where I do my Summer Field School for Archeology. I may do it in Indiana, but I also have an opportunity to spend 8 weeks in Poland working a dig at Auschwitz.

All in all, that sounds like more fun than a bike ride, very cool.

A Very Merry Christmas to you, and your families!!
Merry Christmas Stormcrowes!
Santa brought me bibs this year, so we'll be hitting the Indy500 track in style!

Well gang, it looks like I'm going to have to stick to a more local TdC this year. I have a moving adventure planned, so money is going towards that instead of travel this year. I've never done my local (Pittsburgh - Harmony) TdC, but have heard it's a well run event. I know the Indy ride is awesome, and I'm sure I'll miss out on another great adventure.
Have fun out there,
Denny

If this is happening this year, I"m definitely in. COuldn't last year because it coincided with the beginning of a summer camp at which I work (us teachers need some extra scratch in the summer!), but, that I'm not working this year, I'm in for the century.

You should ride it. A smooth fast ride. There were two pacelines running last year of 30 plus riders each.
140 riders on the 100 mile ride.
Hey Tom -- Any update on 2010? Mrs. Zoxe is bugging me to sign up but don't know if there will be a Team Stormcrowe this year.

I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else; I just can't afford to make the trip this year. I'm planning on the TdC here this year, and a couple of other local charity rides. Wish I could make it!

2010 isn't likely, sorry. It's looking like a 6 week trip to Poland, for me. I'll be digging outside Auschwitz on a Forensic Archeology dig, if it all works out.

Tom,
May i suggest that you form the team, work some of it initially, then some remotely, and appoint a co-captain or replacement on your behalf. Getting 10th place last year is great, but having Bike Forums repeat itself would be that much better. It's the established teams that really do well. Is there someone there in the greater Indy area you could convince to take the team captain duties?
Drew
Hey All,
Understand that Tom and many of the 2009 crew will be busy with other endeavors.
However, Mrs. Zoxe and I just formed a team of our own to track our progress. We may have family members joining us, but many are uncommitted right now.
Any BF.net folks, whether a member of Team Stormcrowe in the past or future, is welcome to join "Council of Moo 2010" here: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/TDC265568030?pg=team&fr_id=6867&team_id=466748
I know this is an old thread, so I'll start a new one as well.
