OK, I violated my "no mountain bikes" rule today. The bike just seemed so good, at a reasonable price. I know I am going to have to put a new seat on it as well as tires (I think I have a set of donor tires around here). Any idea what a good retail price could be for the finished bike? Bike is pretty clean, some scratches on the paint, nothing serious. No dents, dings or defects. Suntour drivetrain.

A little error in the title, I think the bike is either a 1990 model or a 1991 model, based on the code on the crankarms.

I have a pretty good feel for road bikes, but not much for mountain bikes. I know they don't get a lot of value.

An impulse buy, probably a mistake, won't be my first....

Bill,

I believe that style dropout dates it no later than '91. Check here for more info: http://www.vintagecannondale.com/info.html

I'll withold comment on price....

Thanks Jim, based on the color, I think it is a 1991.

I seem to recall a C'dale MTB similiar to yours going for over $200 asking in Raleigh. Shocked the he** out of me because it was a rigid fork.
Your bike has that famous cantilever rear. I wonder if someone could mount some 700C rims on that thing and make an inexpensive cyclocross bike.
