I picked up an older Cane Creek track hub with cartridge bearings that are towards the end of their life. The ones in there are labelled Enduro 6001RS. Most everyplace sells 6001 bearings, including ones made by Enduro. But I have not seen any with the RS.

What does the RS mean? And does it matter, can I just use any old 6001?

The 6001 refers to the size of the bearing. Inner dia, outer dia, width. The RS refers to the seals. It means it has nice rubber lip seals. There is probably a more techincal description.
So. Yes, you can use any 6001 bearing, just make sure if they only have a seal on one side it faces out.
