According to parktool.com crank bolts should be tightened to 305-391 inch/lbs

I put mine on at 260, smack the crank at the bolt with a rubber mallet, and retighten 'em to 260. Works like a charm.

Is this for tapered square end spindles? Anyone know the spec for Shimano splined axles? I started installing the Ultegra cranks on a bike I'm building up (making sure that the splines were aligned correctly of course) and it seemed to be going on pretty hard so I stopped until I can confer with my local bike mechanic. How about the conversion from inch pounds to foot pounds. Is it just 12 inch pounds per foot pound?

The spec is the same for Shimano square and splined spindles. Check out the link to parktool.com in my earlier post. And yes, 12 inch lbs = 1 foot lb.
