Road Cycling - Im compalining again........

Finally a nice night in Cleveland, out on the back streets. I see a car backing from his drive and I yell out at him HEY because he didnt seem to be slowing, and he looks right at me, so I expect him to stop. Wrong, he just slows slightly as he intends to back into the drive on the other side of his forcing me to nail the brakes and stop about a foot from the side of a car worth maybe 1/2 of my bike's value. He stops in the middle of the street at that point. I tell him "your going to end up hurting someone ". Was that so bad to say? My reaction would have been Oh God I'm so sorry, or something like that. The guy looks at me with a cigarette hanging out of his fat face and tells me "Hey go f### yourself ! If you were driving a truck maybe I'd ah stopped for ya." I had tried to be nice but after that I told him he was a worthless fat a$$ and to get out ; he just swears at me some more as he takes off in his rusty white car. Is Cleveland just full of ignorant jerks? so many here seem evil, almost like they are empty inside. It's just so frustrating to me sometimes. I just dont get it. I'm not going to stop ridding! Just had to vent. sorry......

Try riding a city street in Florida......
I know that in Florida and in New Mexico that bicycles have to obey the same laws as a motor vehicle. Maybe you should mount a helmet cam and then turn it in to the police next time it happens, LOL
Too bad it didnt happen in the morning that way you would have been pumped up and could have ridden a little faster and a little longer to burn up that frustration from that idiot... The main thing is you and your bike were not hurt, vent away dude you deserve it...

Whenever I ride, I pretend that nobody or nuttin sees me. That includes grandma and grandpa, squirrels, coyotes, deer, etc. That way, when they do pull a bone headed stunt, not only am I not suprised, I'm prepared.

Ahhh Cleveland. I spent a week there one day. My takeaway was that a lot people who live there feel they are stuck there, and live their lives accordingly.

Consider yourself one of fortunate ones in that you can see the good that is Cleveland.

I've had similar experiences many times where I swear they were looking right at me, and still the driver pulls out right in front of me, or turns in front of me. I think they can't gauge the speed that I'm actually moving. They see a bike and think "slowpoke - I can surely beat him through this intersection" - THEN they look surprised when they nearly hit me because I'm moving much faster than they thought.

I've finally decided to trust no one - always anticipate that they don't see me is the safest policy.

Keep it in perspective. Sure you're upset. Rightfully so. This guy is jerk. Maybe the doctor dropped him on his head when he was born, or his mother didn't breast feed him long enough. Whatever. But 99 % of people aren't jerks. Don't let the few who are get you down!

LALA,,, it says your location is Tremont, that wouldn't be the Tremont area I'm thinking of would it? over on the 'south side'? cause if it is that's one of my favorite rides, I go from there into downtown Cleveland to play in trafic during the 5 pm rush hour if I can get off work earily enough. Never had a problem in Tremont............ yet.

The scary part is that is the kind of utter moron who would have a .357Magnum under his seat. I am always thinking about what I would say if someone cut me off or otherwise endangered my well being.

The problem is when it happens, I react just like you did. I told one guy who looked right at me, then tried to punch it and get in front of me on a four lane road! I yelled something on the order of "Hey, as****le, I'm trying to ride here!" He chased me and screamed "Hey, ******, what did you say to me?" Luckily, I had my wits about me and I said politley "I said, hey, a****hole, would you like to see my badge?" He sped off at a high rate of speed.

According to a comment made by a character in the final episode of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" show, there's a Hellmouth in Cleveland. (A "Hellmouth" is a dimensional portal out of which demons and other nasties come into our world to cause problems). Coincidence?
