Im having a tough time deciding between the egg beater pedal or the candy pedal. Whats the advantage of having a small platform on the candy? do you need a platform or is it personal perfrences? Which one is easier to clip in and out of?

I am riding on the Candy C's and find them the easiest clipless pedal to use I have ever tried.

I have one pair of Egg Beater S pedals and two pairs of Candy SLs. The Candys are on my commuter and MTB, and I do find that the small platform around the 'beater' makes it a bit easier to put in a few pedal strokes before engaging. The platform also seems to give a tiny bit more stability when clipped in, thanks to a slightly longer contact patch with the shoes on each side of the pedal. Most shoes will only contact the sides of the platform when clipped in, though - no contact usually with the front or back of the platform. It isn't a platform designed to be used without clipping in.

I haven't really noticed much difference between them for clipping in and out - both incredibly easy, and fantastic in mud etc. They really do clear themselves out quickly.
