Classic & Vintage - The Bianchesini...a 2013 build

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This will be a future build for when I get back from overseas. Named the "Bianchesini" for its gorgeous pearlescent celeste green color, it's a 90s vintage Chesini NOS frame painted by Frank Hoste in Belgium. It's going to be a neo-retro build with Campy Chorus 9spd, some sweet Campy wheels with straight pull spokes, Centaur compact cranks, and a blue Selle Flite saddle. All the parts will be silver aluminum, so it should look pretty slick.
Only downside; this build will be waiting for about 4 years in a big box. I'm headed back overseas and the whole shop isn't coming along. On the up side it's gonna be a great gift to myself in 2013. Although by then no one will know what aluminum is.

come on, slap it together right now! it's all there!
awesome pics, mark!
Oh, don't think that temptation hasn't surfaced...like every time I walk into my garage. Nonetheless the whole reason I bought this was so I had a build hanging out there, awaiting the time when I can return to the hobby; kind of like a placeholder.
I just realized *slaps forehead* I forgot to shoot the sweet Centaur skeleton calipers I got for her! Crap.

That pearly celeste frame sure is pretty. Nice photos!
My red one has the Chesini names and headbadge logo painted on (the signature on the top tube is a decal). Is yours done like that as well? I remember the ebay seller advertised mine as being painted by Frank Hoste, but it lacks that sticker of his.
It will look beautiful when you build it with that Chorus group. I'm going with a silver alloy 10-speed Centaur group with a triple up front on mine.

There aint no way "in hell" I'm gonna wait four years for you to build up that bike, man!!
...so my advise is to carry it with you and build it up. :thumb:
serously, its a beautiful frame. I love that pearlescent celeste color. I bet it be friggen gorgeous with Chorus hanging off of it, with black bar tape. (please, no celeste bar tape or celeste stripe tires.) You want that frame to stand out on its own.
(sniff) its so pretty
yeah, I'm DSS (Diplomatic Security Service) with State, heading to Basrah for a year then hopefully some place very nice afterwards for 3 years. I'm APO mailing my C'dale and trainer to Iraq for the year, and will take something depending on where I go after, but this bike will sit in her box until I get stationary and a new shop emerges.
Bar tape is the last color concern for this build, I actually did consider the Celeste, but now that I got the blue Selle to match the color fill of the "C" logo on the seat lug I might look at a matching blue for tape. The jury will be out on that one for awhile. I also like the natural grayish white tape Cinelli makes.

Take care of yourself over there. After all this time, it's still not a very nice place for us Yanks. And, I agree with your plan for the build. Something nice to look forward too after a very long assignment.
Good luck. Keep in touch with us here.

Be carefull over there mate, make sure you come back and build that baby up ok !
Thanks, "no extra holes" is kind of the game plan. I did a year in Kabul before I got here in '06, so it's kind of like returning to the party.
I can't wait to post a pic of me training on my 1UpUSA trainer at the base. I'll try to find some old bikes to take pics of if I come across them in a non-hostile area.
