I was in the bike shop a couple of days ago, getting new tires and a new computer. My mechanic told me that they were selling around 850 bikes per year. He said that they had 18 bikes in the back, on repair. Only 3 of them were bike shop bikes. The rest were Wally world bikes. There is a WalMart just down and next door to the bike shop. Wally world keeps 3 mechanics at the bike shop busy, full time, I am told. Several Wally bikes came in while I was there. I enjoy seeing people come in the bike shop for the first time, and watching that dawn of realization come across their happy faces. The same thing that happened to me when I started to ride. If I ask, they'll tell me it's none of my freakin' business. Same reply I'd give someone asking me about my business's sales volume.

I didn't see where it was that big of a deal. I didn't solicit the information, it came up in a casual convesation. I guess Andy Griffith is right, what is small potatoes to some folks, is mighty big to others.
