Purchased a Volkcycle Mark X (1972 version) and while examining the Rampar cruiser seat I discovered the inside lining was faux snakeskin pattern. Either the manufacturer was using scrap materiials, or I got the deluxe fashion version of the saddle. As a zoologist who specialized in reptiles, its appropriate that I have the snakeskin lining in the saddle. Some folks probably wouldn't ride it if they knew it was there. Grin. tom

Now I'm getting ideas about covering one of my saddles with timber rattler skin. That would be pretty s****y, but I'm thinking it wouldn't wear very well.

<edit> Apparently the auto filter is sensitive to British colloquialisms for ************, I never considered that. :lol:

Nice example of recycling pre-consumer scraps. Peruano, you'd enjoy my firewood pile. I burn about 6 cords of wood a year to stay warm here in Vermont. The woodshed is next to the garden, where the local garter snakes like to spend their free time estivating (is that the word for basking in the sun?) When they're ready to shed their skins they crawl around in the split wood to rub the old skin off. I bet I could collect a double handful of shed snake skin from the wood I haul into the house every year. Not sure how much fuel value it has--I've been burning it with the wood rather than using it to line bicycle seats. Maybe I should rethink that.
