While resting with my other cycling buds at the Mt. Diablo junction (yesterday) Sunday......the discussion was about all the ranger trucks going up & down South Gate while we were crawling uphill. Seemed odd to see them so often.

Then, out of the shadows.......we witnessed a Garmin Chipotle rider attacking the mountain at breakneck speeds heading upwards from the South Gate side. Garmin Team car following closely behind. Within seconds, he made the R/H turn and headed upwards on Summit Rd. Wow! Cool. We know it wasn't CVV or DZ.

Anyone know who it was and did they set a climb record?

A little more info..............One of our group had gone down South Gate as we were going to descend North Gate. When he saw them near the bottom of SG, he said there were two riders from Garmin and no bike on top of the team car. When we saw them at the junction, there was only one rider and the second one was inside the team car and a Serotta was on top. Someone bailed for some reason. Would sure like to know their time?

Yep, it was a bit cold, damp and cloudy on Sunday. As they say in all the Warren Miller flicks....."You should have been here yesterday!!!":thumb:
