Introductions - Another lurker steps out....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. I have been watching the site over the last couple of weeks (along with a couple of others) since I have decided to start riding again. I took about a 8 year leave of cycling to race off road motorcycles. I have recently decided that I am too old and brittle(I'm 29) to with stand that abuse for much longer. Last fall I purchased a specialized fsr pro comp for riding on the trails and have in the last few weeks decided to buy a road bike. I have also set a few weight loss and distance goals for the new year. Wish me luck! Thanks.

Welcome aboard! Nice choice on mt. bikes. What kind of Road bike are you interested in.
I too am one of the "beefier" riders out there. I am using the Carmichael's 7 weeks to the perfect ride for my training and I'm enjoying it a lot, albeit a lot of work. It's not hard, just everyday (almost) trying to get back in shape for some Spring Mt. Bike XC races and just overall health benefits.
Good Luck!

I am probably going to buy a trek 5200 OCLV. I'm going to go this weekend and test ride several bikes though. Is there a website address for the program you are using? Thanks.

Is that last Fall (as in Autumn) or last time you fell off a motorcycle?!
Welcome, either way!

Welcome Lee. Too brittle at 29.
Jeez, I think I'll just stay in my bathchair :)
Welcome Lee, you'll find a lot of motorcyclists/ bicyclists here. In fact, in the archieves you'll find some pics of bikes the other guys ride. But we're all held together by our enjoyment of our bicycles. Hope you'll post often and add to shared knowledge.

Lee, don't know about a website. The program is detailed in the Lance Armstrong book that was cowriten with Chris Carmichael. Do a search on Amazon. It's NOT, "It's not about the bike" I think the title is something like, "7 weeks to the perfect ride".
Pretty good program so far. I've definately improved my endurance over the last 3 months I've been using his program.
Good luck
