So a guy is asking 230 for this trek 660, I think it's an 88

I was thinking about getting it for my wife, but I want to make sure I buy a bike that I can sell for what I paid for it or one with nice enough components that I could eventually use them on a bike for me.

what do yall think?

Good price, particularly for LA as long as it is rust free, no dings or dents, and ready to ride. Steel vintage Treks are holding/gaining value right now.

Front tire looks flat. so not sure it is in ready to go condition. Depending on condition of cables and tires, and your ability to deal with them, you might need to put another $40 to $50 into the bike.

It can be hard to find premium bikes in such a small size. Probably need to move quickly on it.

Yep, that size, you buy it, do what it takes to get it going, ride it, and don't worry about resale; there always seems to be people who need that size, especially when I don't have one.

Well, the wife and I talked it over and "we" feel even though the bike is a steel it's probably not the best time to have 2 people getting involved in a costly hobby at this point, so her entry into cycling will probably be delayed, it kills me not to grab this bike, knowing that down the road I might have to pay more for a comparable machine but it just feels a little wrong right now spending money that we don't have to.

Makes sense. Start trolling the garage sales, and you will eventually find one for less. Your patience and diligence will be rewarded!
