Think you're Mr. Billy Bad Arse?
Think you're the King of Mt. Biking?
Here's your chance to prove it: http://www.mtbr.com/contest/santacruz/hellride/
I think this is an awesome contest!
Too hardcore for me I must admit. I don't think I could handle it. Can you?

There are a few races like that here. By choice not forced though :O...we had one guy do the test of metal on a freeride bike (around 80k)...
I AM NOT TOUGH ENOUGH...I won't even do 80 miles on a light bike haha

hmmm...
NO FRIGGIN WAY! 80 miles!? 10,000 feet of climbing?!?!
Kudos to anyone who is ballzy enough for that!
if i lived in the area i would do it
HMMM I doubt it. The longest ride I have done has been 37 miles. Although we consistently do 20 miles at a time, we do not do any where near 10.000 ft of climbing. When I lived in Va, a rough estimate would be about 3000 ft a ride.

The longest I've done was 50 miles in mostly rolling terrain. Climbing, maybe 2,000 feet total (I'm in FL remember!)
If I were closer to 25 not 35, I may have been crazy enough to give it a try, but alas, I know my limits.
Kudos to those that dare try it!

dont know if anyone has heard of this race but its called the "Chupacabra race" (spelling) right over the border in Juarez Mexico. Its 100km or 60miles. I heard over 2000 riders were their last year in October. They supposedly have it every year. Gave jerseys to the first 500 riders in. Dont know what the real prizes were though.

What a load of wimps. 60 miles offroad, thats only a couple of long rides strung together. For any of you that don't fancy this one come to the UK in June. The South Downs Way. 100 miles of trail 10,000ft of climbing, and only about 15 hours of daylight to do it in. Did it last year for the 4th time after a 7 year break. You want hard, then this is it.
Pity I can't do this ride though as I am not eligible, Not a U.S,Resident. Weight of the bike? not a problem, try a tandem at 65lbs. Worried about whether you can do it? of course you can. Just face it, If this veteran rider can do the UK ride, then so can any of you. Just go out for a few extra rides of 5 hours each, up and down the steepest longest hill you know and you'll be fit enough.
( The above is said tongue in cheek, but honestly, I do this sort of ride twice a year as my biggie, and I am OLD, and it is done on a tandem which is definitely not easier than on a solo.)
If any of you are thinking about this ride, then enter it now. You will regret it if you don't.

Nope can't be bothered. I can't stand xc for distance. Too long, too boring and too much work. I am much more in favour of fast very technical short courses (10 to 20k)...beyond that and I would probably get a road bike. When it comes to endurance, endurance racing and anything requiring endurance I am a big puss. Give me power, speed, adrenaline and hard hitting strength (hey I played american football :D) and I am all over it.
you should see about entering the trans rocky. Its a yearly race I believe...takes 6 days and climbs over and through the rocky's. Supposed to be a lot of pain and climbing.

I think I'd do it if it were in reverse. They shuttle you to the top, then ride down. But climbing...uh

This sounds like something that Nathank would be interested in. Too bad he's in Germany. Right up his alley!
Well Nathank you should sign up and come stateside for another visit. Be worth it to go back with a new Santa Cruz, eh?

Me? About 3 months. I day to do the start of the ride, have a heart attack, get flown to the cardiac unit, have open heart surgery to put the pieces back together and then 12 weeks of recovery!
