Hi,
I usually use orthotics, but the end result lifts the heel up. That throws the alignment of the body off when rowing. I have been using some Tevas with Ortholite soles. They work pretty well. But I could use more arch, and these things
are already tight with paper thin socks.

I could use some suggestions, or perhaps a forum for rowing like this one.

Maybe stilletos with fish net stockings acting as compression socks?
I like being helpful.

Wait, what part of the stroke are your heels lifting? They should be flat against the foot board during the recovery and they should lift at the catch and drive.

I only go a little past half catch. My knees are old and bunged up and don't like
me going full catch. My heels stay on the board.

Not really understanding what the issue has to do w/ your orthotics-- your heels are coming away from them? Sounds like your soleus is tight. Try some stretching (squat down, keeping heels on the floor). Could try the Earth shoes thing too-- for walking, I mean.

I guess I don't understand your problem, but talking purely rowing your heels shouldnt be lifting if you're only going up to half slide.
