General Cycling Discussion - What's a "Bike Shield"?!?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Got a bike shield delivered with my new road bike - it's clear, rubbery plastic.... whats it for?

If it's what I think it is, it's a clear adhesive layer that you place on parts of the frame to protect it from scratches and chips. e.g. place it on the downtube, chainstays, head tube etc.
